Jet Suction Dredger
A jet suction dredger (JSD) uses a water jetting mechanism at the suction inlet to loosen the seabed materials. The dredged materials are usually sucked up by a wear-resistant centrifugal pump and discharged through a pipe. Jet suction dredgers are most often used in geological areas consisting of loose surface materials.
It's hull consists of a main pontoon and two side pontoons, which are easy to dismantle or mount.
The dredgers are powered by diesel engines.
